Rega planet clamshell , CD player intermittently cutting out

As above post , any ideas on why ? It can play a whole cd but then next time cuts out after 5 seconds , no rhyme or reason .thanks in advance

This may be related to the lid microswitch perhaps?

I believe The Rega Planet is quite an old player. They all need a service eventually and I would give Rega a ring, if I were you.

Thanks , I’ve tried playing with the lid mechanism but is not solving problem . Thing is it seems to good to throw away but maybe not necessarily worth repairing
