Do any of you learned folk know which platter mat was originally supplied with the deck and does anybody have one laying around that they want to move on ?

Thanks for looking.

Some places say a felt mat Rob and some say a harder, Carbon impregnated type thing :dunno:

I see that too, apparently a 'mat is a woven polyester pad filled with carbon particles'.

I believe they changed the platter material at some point from MDF (due to machining difficulties etc) to some sort of resin.

When I sold the Revolver in the mid '80s, at that time it had the woven polyester mat, which was like a thin stiff felt. They also had the MDF platter then. It was used with the "pig" clamp, so called because when they came out of the moulding machine, they looked something like a load of pig's teats, or so the story went at the time.

Nice turntables, easy to set up and very reliable.

I really like the turntable Serge; the sound quality with an LV-X hosting a 2M Blue has quite surprised me; a lot better than the Rega's I've had.

I've got one with the MDF platter, now I just need to find one of those woven polyester mats and possibly a Pig clamp..

If you want something similar, pick up a DJ slipmat as these are nearly always made from fairly firm and dense polyester.

True, but be careful as some are a bit too slippery. I have a pair with a 'plasma ball' picture on them and the drag of an Ortofon OM Pro S tracking at 3g is enough to make them slip of their own accord.

Rather embarrassing when you don't discover it until you're in the middle of DJ-ing a friend's wedding... :x

Double sided sticky tape is your friend with slipping mats :)

I've got the Carbon impregnated Felt Mat and the original Pig and it has made a nice positive difference to the TT.

Quite an amazing sounding little TT for next to no money; easily better sounding than the old P2's, P3's and 1210's that I have owned and different but not worse than my old slate plinthed Lenco. Very tuneful, deep bass and really gets INTO the music, just flows along. A really enjoyable listen.
