If you ever fancy a change for a few weeks :)
I have a Schiit Gungnir you could listen to & I can give the Holo a try ?
* My mother used to say that God loved a tryer. ;)
Sadly that won’t work for me, the Gungnir doesn’t have the same functionality so can’t be the hub of my setup. I am hoping for the chance to compare to a certain Bel Canto box in the not too distant future though, us being near neighbours! 😎

Remotes are one of the main reasons i choose kit as well as sonics , ease of use is so incredibly important and bc remotes have been so brilliant . Light and reliable .

Read quite a few glowing reviews of the holospring 3 which would certainly tempt me but moans about rattles of the buttons on the remote crops up several times which is a concern really to me

However i am most certainly ready to be proved wrong by cablemonkeys holospring !! Henry knows far more about dacs than many many people

I never forget being utterly blown away by a vintage arc power amp he let me borrow once !! Wow the subterranean bass and capability was marvellous

Remotes can be a bit Marmite I guess. I’ve never seen a remote that rattles like the Holo remote as being a fault, more a quirk. To be clear, it makes a nice ‘click’ when you press it and only rattles if you shake it like a South American band leader! But I can think of one YouTube reviewer who would be driven nuts by a rattling remote!

yes actually the same dealer i bought from is a rokna dealer too . I didnt get a listen to the rockna this time but much of my other kit is Bel canto , and i run a bel canto pre 5 in a separate system . i like their remotes and the fact they are built in the USA still

they also offer an upgrade path , there are several bel canto dac/pre above the eix ex to progress to one day hopefully .

and this more modest one which is still 16k !!

just an update on the Bel Canto Eix /pre . Been very reliable so far , i use the e-one remote with it as i prefer it . Bearing in mind one has had many many pre amps including the arc ref5se and mfa baby ref and modwright 36.5dm . this one would give them all a very good run for the money . Used into 2 beautiful Tannoy Eaton Lagacy with F5 monoblocks [clone]

the EIX /pre give a BIG sound . it extracts the superb bass of the tannoys more than many pre amps i have had . very controlled smooth sound that is very beguiling . Used with mainly berlin electronica and classical. The snap and attack is great but its smooth enough to give many hours of non fatiguing sound 10/10 so far

Not used the Tilt feature as no need , it just sounds very good . spotify into the dac sounds mighty fine too . This uses a bel canto CD2 with a vbs1 with a chord epic aes input . If anyone wants to move up from the pre 5 [ which i also have ] or the pre 3 then this is a great upgrade
