In fact, it doesn't really matter I can make use of either

tbh these are cheap enough to buy new. The guys at Rothwell were helpful when I did business with them. If you need attenuators you might as well get 'em new rather than wait for s/h ones to turn up.

OK, that's more than I remember paying, but IMO still less than a passive pre or some other HiFi component

I don't need them for a couple of weeks as I don't listen that often. If none turn up then I'll happily buy new. It's not a money issue 👍🏻
