Second system amp upgrade

Hi all,

I currently have a second system that I'm upgrading/building and am looking for advice From others that have heard both amps,so they can hopefully comment on the difference between them,and wether the upgrade would be worth it/or not.
The system is at present an Arcam dv139 as source,into a linn kk/d,linn 2250/d driving a pair of linn katan,cables used are Linn Silver and split k400.

I have been looking at upgrading the 2250/d for a pair of lejonklou tundra monos,the first version,and wondered what kind of uplift in SQ I can expect,will it be worth doing.
The 2250 is a fine amp,but feel there's room for better.

I will also be adding a source for streaming,possibly a sneaky ds or maybe an early akurate 0 or 1 and will also be adding a sub to help with bass below 85hz which will give the sound more body and depth.

Hopefully some of you have heard both amps,and might like to comment on the difference between them.

The upgrade amp budget will be around £800 with the assumption that my 2250 will sell for £650+,so a budget of £1400 in total.

I listen at very low levels,as I have a hearing condition which prevents me from listening at higher volume,so don't need a huge power hungry class A,valves are interesting,but not viable in the room available.
If anyone can think of any other amp that is standard case size or smaller,and under 12kgs in weight,that would be a good upgrade from my 2250, recommend away

Forget the Lejonklou cheap rubbish, which one well known dealer on the old Linn forum listened to and said "the Tundra is worse than a Linn Majik amp".

Try listening to an Akurate amp, as you won't want to spend an excessive amount on a second system? s/h bearing in mind your budget.

I assume from your post Imseti that your not a fan of lejonklou products.

I think if I was to upgrade in the linn world,it would be to a early non dynamik twin,as might get in budget,an Akurate 2200 won't be much of an upgrade,i think.

I think a Twin might be over his stated budget?

I can confirm....from first hand experience. A significant upgrade from an Akurate amp.

Rather hostile comment. Sounds like you have some history with Lejonklou products.
Have you heard Tundras yourself or just referring to others? If not, there are plenty of other well known (Linn) dealers that would certainly disagree to that statement. (And also fascinating that you find them cheap.)
I would recommend Wonky to listen to them in person.
Low level listening is rather tricky if you are after the lower mid bass ”punch” and unless you are mainly after some missing low/deep bass info I see a risk that a sub may not be the only solution (which you already address). So trying one or buying used to sell at minimum loss would be my recommendation. Otherwise I think changing several items may risk end-up rather expensive with improvements in some areas and a step back in others - unless you or some friend/dealer is really good at having the system set up correctly and that you can audition at home before buying.

90sLinn as I will be buying used,won't get a chance of home demo,so buying blind as such.
All in really want to know is if it's a worthwhile upgrade,from hopefully more than one person,who has actually heard both amps,and can comment on the difference between them
