Selekt Edition + Exakt

So, I'm on the verge of pulling the trigger on the new Selekt Edition. My dealer can't get a demo unit in for two weeks, so I'm left reading the manual! However the deal is 90% there, short of a demo.

I didn't realise that the Selekts can run as three-way exakt boxes, effectivity integrating an exaktbox 6 into the unit with the appropriate modules. I'm wondering if anyone knows if the exakt output works on both the amp models and the line out modules!? I'm expecting it does, just wonder if anyone knows for real. I'll punt the question at Linn also.

I'm planning on ordering Line Out Stereo Organik as per my ADSM/3 setup, as I have an Aktiv M140 front end. I'm just already considering my upgrade options once I've paid off the player! Upgraditus has me bad this time around. I've always fancied ATC SCM40. To make them Exakt would be pretty good I suspect, I'd have to get a filter made though. This combination for some reason just gets under my skin... I need to hear it. @sunbeamgls, have you any experience with the SCM40s?

It's pure snobbery on my part, I just don't like the way the classic looks with the acrylic front. I've not done an A/B, hell I haven't even done an A yet. I couldn't give you a reason as to why the Edition would sound better than the classic over what Linn already say. The Hub 'feels' more like an upgrade from my ADSM than the classic does. I'll be staring at this thing for the next 10 years; I really need to enjoy looking at it.

Three stereo organik + line out modules is a fair bit of the way towards the (Organik) KEB cost and should work just fine with a Selekt Edition.....

I was very close to purchasing the SCM40a's but while talking to ATC I was told the amps never drop into "standby". I didn't want the kids fumbling around the back of the speakers to power them up before and after every TV session. If the ATC's had auto signal sensing, I'd be all over them.

That's right and a damn shame as that what I'm running!! However my front end is Aktiv.

Yes. Only using an Exaktbox-I or some other combination of amplifier and Exaktbox.

Indeed, and it was suggested to me by ATC at the time, I even bought one to play with. It worked (even with google/amazon/apple voice assistants) but isn't as simple or as reliable as having an auto-sensing circuit in the amps. To be fair to ATC said they would consider auto signal sensing as an enhancement when we spoke. It was about 2 years ago. Since that time, I've lusted after ATC passives with Linn Exakt filters and external amps. The Selekt at least brings Exakt to the party over my current setup. I'd just need 4 more channels of Orgaink line outs, oh and the speakers and then I'll need get the filters programmed, and the brand new speakers modded, then I'll likely need better amps. If I won the lottery, I'd probably give it a whirl for the fun of it. Until then I'll stay with my Aktiv M140s and 2 channels of Organik.

He can't mimic my front end and I don't want to tear it down, so we are using ATC SCM40A's and my DSM/3 to A+B the two sources.

I'm really looking forward to this.

Yep, I have my Keilidhs on the end of an AEB-i and see no reason to change.
