Yep, the US-based seller selling on eBay UK is a possible sign. The "two digit number/name/two digit number" username with zero feedback is also a sign of a scam. Add to that an image search of the first image in the ad comes up with the same photo in a number of websites out of Russia. I wouldn't give it a high percentage of being legit.

In the flesh it looks superb. We visited Shindo Labs last time I was in Tokyo.

Sound to my ears though was very average -as indeed I've found all Garrards if honest.

Because of compliance legislation. Shindo don't want to spend a fortune to get a BS stamp on their kit.

Builder's term on this would be T.C.! The Shindo stuffs have price tag that will pushing on a Kondo's territory, I do not know how much to get a B.S. compliance but if most of hifi companies willing to do it then....

BS or not, but having owned and heard personally lots of S gear myself, they are special, but not so like their price tag indicates..I'd go rather Thöress instead these days..if I'd like to spend some more.

I'd kind-of agree with this. There's no doubt Shindo kit is special, and it certainly has a following very, very similar to Kondo. It's not the 'poor relation' by any means but is different. Certainly some of Shindo's earlier designs flew in the face of good design practice, but somehow still came out sounding very good.

Is it worth the money? Hmm. Is Kondo kit worth the money? There will be for and against for both questions. I think it is something you have to try and decide for yourself.
