This afternoon I remembered a rather amusing conversation with the caretaker/handyman at the hotel late Monday morning.
It happened as I was walking across the ballroom towards the fire-doors with one of my boxes, the caretaker said to me "looks like someone's left a speaker behind, obviously didn't want it" pointing at a large ugly black thing against the wall near the stage. This surprised me as I thought no-one, not even a wammer would be daft enough to forget to pack a speaker. After chatting to him a bit more it turns out that this rather large horn type speaker was the hotels' but was surplus to requirements so he'd told a few of the lads they or anyone could have it if they wanted. Eventually as I continued back and forth loading the car and chatting to him I noticed a pile of screws on top of the speaker cabinet. We both went to investigate and discovered that one/some of the boys had partially removed the perf metal grills and back-panel and removed all the drivers 😎😂😂😂🤣. Caretaker just shrugged his shoulder and said "obviously no room in their car so just took the good bits, I'll just wheel this out and break it up for the bin".

So come on own up, who had the drivers and more importantly what were they??

One of the staff did mention to me that there were some big old speakers in the basement the hotel inherited from a local cinema when it was demolished. Altic or something they were called. I said they're probably worthless so they should just chuck them.

That could be Altec, as in Altec Lansing, as in JBL. They are famous for the 'Voice Of The Theatre' speakers (VOTT, for short). I havent heard of Accuton.
I would like to have clapped eyes on them to see if they were VOTTs. (I doubt it)
