Very reluctantly, I am putting these loudspeakers up for sale since they've given (and continue to give) great pleasure. But w[SIZE=large]e're downsizing our house and consequently our stereo. 3. Compatibility.
- You will need some serious amplification to drive these loudspeakers. They are rated at 4 ohms nominal but dip to 2.5 ohms. Hi Fi Choice Magazine said they went down to 2 ohms but that's not what it says in the published specification. Therefore, valve amps (for example) aren't ideal for driving the Chimeras.
- I have tried many power amps and decided on Linn Klimax Solos.
- The Chimeras like to be positioned a little way from walls. You will need a reasonable size room to accommodate them and let them breathe properly.
[SIZE=14pt]4. Shipment and insurance.[/SIZE]
- These are large and heavy speakers and shipping them will not be cheap. They will be shipped in the original Wilson Benesch cardboard packing cases. Each package is 153 x 66 x 50cm and weighs 80kg (160kg for the pair).
- Please contact me if you would like me to get a shipping quotation for you. I will need your address.
- A pallet will be required for international shipments. This is not included and I would need to buy one in.
- You are welcome to collect from Isfield, East Sussex. Please contact me regarding arrangements.
- I am happy to ship internationally but please bear in mind shipping and insurance costs.
5. No nonsense.
- Price: £12,950 (i.e. £25,250 less than the current equivalent Wilson Benesch).
