Source for 16awg silver or 16awg OCC coper wire

Hi,

I'm seriously considering homebrewing some short cable runs to replace the silver beasties I have (which are either soniclink or audio note silver) that, nice as they are, are too darn long. To do this, I want to go the low inductance twisted cable route, and I'd like to find a UK source with reasonable prices for either silver or occ copper wire in 16awg. Can anyone help with this please?

I could also do with recommendations for either silver or silver plated copper spades and banana plugs.

If you want to be cheap, get Brocott magnet wire off eBay, and twist it together yourself by clamping two ends together and putting the other ends in a drill, tighten well and then turn on the drill to twist them together. It work well.

The magnet wire is probably going to be the route of choice, the design I'm following uses 16awg wires, two pairs of two wires twisted clockwise are combined in a counter clockwise twist. I'm still playing with the design layout for the rack/speakers, but with a max 4 foot length required capacitance should not be a problem. I'm going to go the banana plug route I think. Any recommendations for good value plugs?

I get my 99.999 pure silver wire from hifi collective - I can really hear the extra decimal place

Twist as Adam suggests. Not too tight or the soft silver will rip apart - been there, done that...

I don't think these are "silver or silver plated" though! I use them myself, but not with silver wire.

Good point, forgot that in the OP. I think you can get that design in silver plate, and IMO it's the best banana plug design - simple, strong and forms a good connection without getting loose over a few years.
