Howdo all,
I bought a set of Frugalhorn XL speakers with MOAB 11 drivers.
The cabinets sound great, and the driver sound fab on female voices plus an acoustic instrument. So guitar, piano, and female voice is rather fantastic.
For pop/rock, general listening, I find the drivers a bit harsh at the top end, and somewhat scooped in the middle (vs my Tannoys). The Tannoys sound much nicer.
I have several sets of Tannoy Dual Concenric speakers boxed in the garage, including the one with the smallest speaker size, a set of Revolution SE stand mount speaker. These are quite lovely, but are thin on bass, which makes me think they could be a great fit the Frugalhorns.
I think the Tannoys could be a little bigger than the MOAB. How difficult would it be to modifier the cabinets go take the Tannoys?
I have zero woodworking skills, so would need to pay someone to do this. Know anyone working around the High Wyconbe area who could help with this?
Anything I need to consider that I haven’t?
Appreciate any feedback.
Best, Marlin
