Started my lad on his journey

He's just turned 15 and asked for deck in his bedroom , i had a Pl12 ( that his grandad gave to me ,sadly he's recently passed away ) its fitted with a ortofon blue .
A mate sold me the amp and gave me a CD player , the Kef’s i had in the loft
Sounds great and he loves it 👍

Only downside is he's asking to borrow my vinyl 👀 , I've told him to go and get a job to buy his own ! ( I’ve given him some to get him started )

Wish my setup was this good at his age .

Update , well two months in he's killed his 2m blue ( left a record spinning ..gerrrr)
So ordered him a 2m red and stopping £2 a week from his pocket money until he's paid it off 🤪

Wow, what a lucky lad to have such a great dad & system. I hope this great Hobby will keep him enthralled all his life like it has for so many of use.Absolutely superb 👍

We've all done it. Trashed a cart I mean! It's an early lesson and at least it wasn't a hugely expensive one. He'll be more careful in future.
Well done to you though for helping him onto an enlightened path!

I remember some lovely speakers in my bedroom at home .. The Wharfedale E70’s come to mind .
But what a great start for your lad .
I agree , you buys your own vinyl . Although I was left a lovely collection by an uncle after he passed away …He’s just binding his time lol !!!!

So up in the loft we go, and lo and behold I had 3 up there! I decided the Technics SL1500 would probably best suit him, and found a decent Ortofon FF15e to go with it. He has some active Yamaha speakers, so I need to find him a phonostage, as I do not have a spare one. Any way I think he will be one happy lad, I will also donate, some LP's to start him off,

I helped a mate's nephews (about 14 years) on the way with a Jap deck, a Marantz amp donated by a Wammer and a pair of speakers.
Its nice that they are interested.
They were thrilled to bits and it only cost their dad £163 (including rack).
