How long does Superfi take to deliver a purchase?

I purchased a Yamaha AS-700 5 days ago, still no delivery and according to them they are still "waiting on manufacturer" and wouldn't give me any more explanation of what this means.

I have google'd around and some say it can take FOUR MONTHS to deliver....

Anyone know any other stores that have said amp actually in stock?

Thanks

I've always had fast delivery from them in the past with the exception of my Apollo TT2 wallshelf which took around 10/11 days & not the 5/6 days I was initially lead to believe. Everything else when ordered & in stock has taken 1 or 2 days IME. Did they claim it was in stock when you pulled the trigger?? In fairness tho the guy who needed to set up the jig at t factory was away & I was told that this is a special order item with a lead time of 7/8 days normally if not in stock. Superfi didn't claim it was in stock at the time of order either, sooo pretty fair I'd say.

I've sworn I'll not buy owt other than accessories from Superfi from now on tho' due to my Last PVR a Topfield which failed 3 times in a year & a half & the lack of a satisfactory resolution left a bad taste in my mouth + since the excellent Andy t' previous manager left the Mcr city centre shop & moved doooon Sarf ter be wiv his Lady this shop has gone rapidly downhill IMV. I generally find the young lads that work there enthusiastic at least, but the lack of any 2ch expertise is laughable + the new manager is an AV head & Linn-centric tosspot/Laddy Halfwit.

Trouble is t'other 'Hi-Fi' shop across the road is worse in terms of service/lack of knowledge & prolly one of the worst I've come across in terms of trying to foist shite you don't want/aren't remotely interested in. :wall: :grrr: onto you. This really does hack me off when prepared to spend money as I'm pretty decisive when buying kit & tend to be fairly clued up on what I want beforehand & will have done my research. Still it makes my blood boil when one seems ter know more than the salesman.....& then the feckin' c**t tries to 'steer' you onto summat costing hundred's more than yer max stated budget & in some cases double. I've had this happen in there too often to put this down to just one 'knob' :nup: . This star establishment is Audio T Mcr BTW. :td: (I'm really not talking of near price equivalent alternative suggestions that aren't on ones 'Radar' here neither, as that would be fine of c.)

LOL..................I've just done a shop rant & I only meant to answer your question. :D

My only experience of them was quite a few l years ago and they were superb in every way and did everything possible for a then poor student with a very limited budget. One of the good guys in the industry ,i think.

Apart from trying to foist cables on me which would have added 40 50 percent without seemingly paying particular attention to my existing cables and amps Audio T where ok, especially the manager who signalled the salesman to back off when I had home demoed the speakers and found ones from another dealer preferable. The manager Ian I think his name was went up in my view.

Ok, my fault, bank declined my payment for anti-identity theft reasons.

All sorted now, should arrive in 2 days...

Went in one of their shops to enquire about buying the new kef full range monitors, but the guy stopped talking to answer the phone three times in ten minutes. "goodbye"! I agree, the independents are a world away in service.

So not all rosy. Went to connect this up today with my new banana cables (Thanks Goomer!) to find the model they sent me only has binding posts, and horrid cheap ones at that, even though the website and spec says it has 4mm banana plug outpits.

Read the manual and it seem that only UK models have banana plugs and Japanese models don't, so Superfi seem to have sent me a grey import?

So got to wait for Monday to contact them and see what's up. Any idea if I can replace the posts with banana plug ones that I could buy somewhere?

I bought new for no hassle and all I get is hassle hassle hassle...

Have you checked that the centre of the binding post does not pull or lever out. I think some silly eu rule means thet have to blank the banana socket to stop people pushing mains plugs or something into them. If its not obvious from looking or trying with a screwdriver or something, try the manual.

Indeed they do Rick.....I wuz with me mate Jen the Day she picked her Yammy AS700 up from Richers in Stockport & popped em out meself so they would take t' 'Nanas' fitted to her cables. If they're in fairly snugly a flat ended precision driver inserted underneath the head of each cap should allow yer to easily pop 'em off.

Thanks guys! Just sorted it with the above advice, they aren't bungs and one of them was a bit messy so I drilled it out!

Amp sounds good, my left Audio Accoustic AEGO NEO V3 is still flat, which is good and bad news: I can sell my Sony ES amp in good faith knowing there is nothing wrong with it; but I am going to have to either take apart and fix the floorstander or send it to AE for repair :(

I had a similar dilemma with a Yamaha DSP800 processor years ago. I was told to just give them a good push and the plugs would go in. They did seem tight though and I wasn't happy about the brute force bit. Once you've landed one of them you will be more confident with the others. You may have to unscrew them first as they are retained. Ring the shop on Monday and double check if unsure.

You got to admire a man who'll take a black and decker to a brand new amp!
