Is your "second system" in the bedroom? Mine was, about 3 houses ago, and I hope it's in the big cardboard box in the kitchen, which I hope to unpack soon. There should be cassette and CD players, a tuner, and an Arcam Alpha amplifier plus my late father's KEF Celeste-IIIs. I prefer to have a solid state amplifier if I'm likely to go to sleep while it is switched on. Likewise sources that click off at the end rather than chuff round forever wearing out the stylus. Getting my VHF aerial put up would be a good idea too, I think I listen to more radio in bed than under other circumstances

My headphone system is under the bed, I put them on when I go to bed. Sometimes I listen to a whole album, sometimes I drift off after a track or two after a long hard day. I rotate the headphones and amp, I don't like to fall asleep when I'm using an OTL valve amp with HD650s or DT880s but sometimes I just want to hear it.

I've recently sold most of my planars but now I'm really missing them. I'm looking out for a pair again.

I always play music when I'm going to sleep. It helps keep thoughts out of my head, and my system sounds nice at very low volumes. I have several playlists in iTunes lasting around an hour each. I nod off after a few tracks. Best music I know for falling asleep is Modern Gospel. Here's a couple of samples from my playlist:

My go to bed and wake-up nth system is just a smart speaker tuned to the radio or a streaming service … stereo imaging isn’t really a factor when you’re half asleep and any more equipment is a waste of electricity. It switches itself on and off at the right times as well.

iPod (lossless) into iDecco amp into Ether 2 headphones.
For years I used Wharfedale Isodynamic 'phones which are excelllent, if inefficient-ran from speaker outlet.
Had Leak Mini-sandwiches on top of wardrobe, but gave them away (Amormusic) last month.
10500 tracks on Shuffleplay.
The iPod has been upgraded with SSD drive.

Arcam solo with Triangle LN01 speakers. Sounds lovely the LN01 speakers and Arcam give a quite smooth sound and the Arcam has a sleep function and alarm built in! Mostly go asleep listening to music but sometimes R4, Sorted.

I listen to my Linn Classik every night and every morning, it's located by my bedside. I have some lovely little Audiosmile Kensai speakers connected to it. I do usually set the timer so it switches off automatically if I doze off early but sometimes forget such as last night when I went to bed early after a beer festival and woke up at 1.30 AM to some weird music on radio 3 :)

I go to bed with my phone and my Bluetooth headphones de jour.

I suffer a bit from insomnia atm, and without a doubt this keeps me sane when I wake up around 3am.

Music streaming or YouTube music vids.

I have my phone with wired earbuds specially for side sleepers which I sometimes play ambient music thru when falling asleep if my mind is over active. Because they are a shallow design I don't wake up with my ears sore. Some thing like Brian Eno's ' Music For Instalations' is perfect.

I also have a pair of Bose blutooth "Sleep Buds" which operate thru an app on my phone which plays ambient sounds from a selection of about 35 choices of various natural sounds. They can't play music.

These are handy if my other half comes back in the room to sleep (She's a dreadful snorer) when we have visitors or the dogs are restless it plays the sounds constantly and blanks out other noises.

Slightly different for me as my main rig is in my bedroom anyway... But currently using the 2nd system I've been building as the focals have stayed in their boxes post show downstairs.

Might well end up as the bedroom system when we finally move into our own house.

Currently a Cambridge Audio 840c cd player or Pioneer Streamer into Krell 400xi Integrated with Yamaha ns1000s but might need to consider smaller speakers depending on the final layout.

I wondered what those voices in my head were. They give me strange dreams.

When I was a young lad I couldn’t wait to get to bed I used to keep a tranny under my pillow. :ROFLMAO:
When I was very young, I had crystal set under my pillow, just a ferrite rod a diode and a moving coil microphone. Being near brooklands park it only picked up radio 2, it was loud enough to hear through the pillow and sounded really good, much better than any Am radio I have ever heard.

In my rented bed sit days I enjoyed the in bed stereo. These days though, Mrs doesn't like the idea.
