I can't remember the last time something was hyped that much (although to be fair, I've only been paying attention to hifi stuff in the media and forums for a couple of years).

Here's to hoping the s/h market will soon be flooded with bargain Devialets. I fancy trying one.

Can't say i'm a fan at all. The Premier's amp section sounds like a sterile, clean Class D amp to me - think Bel Canto etc. Been there, done that. An expensive mistake.

Devialet - Stylish, convenient - yes.

High end sound - no. Not IMO.

Hmmm, I think they sound fantastic, so I really hope you're right about picking one up for buttons in a few years.

I still can't believe that hype it's getting, though. It's clear that I understand less and less as time goes on.

I don't really understand the desire to give Devialet such a shoeing.

They start an audio company (of all things) in the depths of a recession, make an eye-catching and innovative product and now they're trying to sell as many of them as they can.

The best of French luck to them, I say.

edit: I can see how this might look like I'm taking a pop at Phil directly. I apologise if my post came off like this. It was more the overall negative tone of the whole thread.

A lot of experienced audiophiles have bought these to replace expensive amps so not just a lifestyle product. I haven't heard them properly so can't comment on the sound but I love the original design.

Would like to hear them in a decent system.

Would love to hear it against the Wadia Intuition as well - not that I have any great interest in streaming music files.

I can't comment on the sound, never heard one. You have to admire their marketing, getting across the forums and into the serious press (at bonus time), in an ever decreasing audiophile market has to be applauded. It surprises me that Papa and Fat Boy are getting worked up about it, both been around long enough to know that Devialet is last years Monarch TT, year before's Class D amps, etc, etc.

Cheers BB

Aren't there ongoing problems with the software streaming side. There always seems to be many updates and problems reported across various forums.
