Good luck for the season to you boys who support Championship teams.

It looks like it could be a close one, 15 ex prem teams in there this season.

How do you think your teams will do?

I think this season with Jim Magilton in charge it will be....erm mediocre I fear. As long as we regain our rightful place as the pride of Anglia it'll do for me.

IHNN - where did it all go wrong? I have always thought of Ipswich as a good footballing side and they have been very entertaining over the years.

That Nigerian fella had a bit of a laugh at your expense, was that the beginning of the slippery slope?

Good luck anyway, apart from Norwich I'm sure most other fans would like to see Ipswich bounce back a bit.

Sorry old chap, I have to say I'd love it if Norwich AND Ipswich were back up there with the big boys! I'm a big Norwich fan but all though I'm not the biggest fan of Ipswich, I have to admit that it would be good to see them back up the top of the Championship.

Of course, I still think we're going to do the double over those tractor boys!

I think that chap from Nigeria was Finidi George, God he took the piss. I remember Ipswich in Europe playing Inter Milan (I think), even I was cheering on those boys then!

Ah Finidi George - talk about flatter to deceive, a blinding hat trick in one of his first home appearances (if not the first) and then erm nothing nada diddly squat. Matteo Sereni, a goalkeepr FFS complaining about being tired halfway through the season and needing a holiday.

That season will not go down in the annalls of ITFC as one of the better ones bankrupt the club and get relegation, cheers George (Finidi & Burley).

It would be good to see both Ipswich and Norwich up in the premeirship again but I can't see us doing it for a while I think the Canaries have got a better chance (although it pains me to say it!).

We only managed to sign one player during the Summer & it seems the legend that is Chris Sutton is heading down to you guys on a pay-per-play basis!

But, I never expected us to win the league but we did, so fingers crossed!

I'd heard that rumour too, could be a pretty good deal for us, he might get a bit of stick from the North stand though.

BB - thanks - I support QPR - it runs through the family from our NW London routes - the club has seen better days - boardroom strife - no money - it's going to be a long haul this season - but you've got to be optimistic!

If Robson can prove he can actually manage a football team, I really can't see anyone stopping Albion, much as it hurts me to say it.

They have kept their best players, and the signing of Hartson and Perry, will give them two good experienced players who will be too good for the championship.

Wouldn’t you rather see more than one Midlands side in the premiership griffo?

Villa have been the Brum mid-table stalwarts for a long time - with most honours going to NW or London based teams. When Villa won the European Cup in ’82 (I can just remember this) there were five Midlands teams in the top flight. WBA finished 11th that Season. Has to be a good thing to have more than one Midlands side in the premiership.*

Yes, I think Albion will go back up because Robson has kept a good team together and done some smart dealing with Fergie. The Championship looks more and more like an increasingly difficult division to escape from tho’.

Couldn't agree more with you. Having Small Heath and the Baggies back in the top flight was great, local derbies are what the fans really enjoy.

The problem this time round was the porn merchants from Small Heath bragging they were bigger than the Villa as they finished a couple of places above us on season. So I think most of us enjoyed seeing them play dreadful football (yes, worse than us last season) and going back down, put them in their place a little.

However I would certainly want them and albion back in the top flight.

You are correct there were 5 West Midlands teams when we won the championship.

Our nearest derby (?)this year is Sheffield United - what kind of derby is that

, no rivalry between the two clubs.

I think the Championship is going to be a tough one this year - other than the 3 relegated teams, Leeds, Southampton will be up there and teams like Burnley and Coventry should also be fighting for a play-off place.
