Just been to see it. Its fantastic, a real treat. Or at least it would have been had we not rented Infernal Affairs (a Hong Kong movie) about 3 weeks ago.

The Departed is a remake of Infernal affairs, and a very good one. However, I hadn't read that so wasn't aware. We just sat there knowing exactly what will happen next.

:Not Sure:

If you haven't seen either then I would say, see The Departed, The acting, direction, dialogue and cinamatography in the Scorsese movie are all far superior to the Hong Kong original, however the original is somehow more...original..:Not Sure: Sorry.

If you have kids and getting to the Cinema is a pain, rent the original. I think I posted here about it a while ago.

Either way, go and see it/rent it. It's/They're great.

Saw this last night and I loved it - Scorsese back to doing what he does best, and Nicholson better than he as been in ages.

I'm a big fan of the original as well - but I saw it ages ago - but still worth seeing this, cracking film.

Does Ray Winstone speak with an American accent in this. I thought his Henry the Eight accent was exceptional.

It's Boston Oirish accent - if you see what I mean.

It's always fun watching Ray - has a wonderful menace about him this.

Also keep your eye out for the stack of McIntosh gear in Matt Damon's apartment in the film - but no talk of cables like in the original

As good as it gets?

Thanks for telling me that this is a remake of internal affairs which I thought was excellent but has no idea this was the remake (knew one was on the horizon). Think I'll still try and see it or get it on DVD when it comes out.

Went to see this last night - great film.

I thought that Ray Winstone was slightly less menacing than normal, but that was probably down to me trying to work out what his accent was. Having said that, a slightly less menacing Ray Winstone still has more menace than just about any thing this side of a Great White Shark thats about to take a bite out of your knackers.

I saw it yesterday and liked it, though was expecting more after some hype heard about it. I only realised half way through that Matt Damon and Di Caprio were in it, I thought Matt Damon was playing both roles as they look similar.

Anyway, Jack Nicholson was good, not his usual demented self but liked it. Not sure who the Scottish guy was but he and Winstone couldn't really pull off the Noo Yawk accents
