Hands up anyone who uses Vinyl Passions DUST BUSTER 👍👍
However much we treasure our vinyl with cleaning and good storing , dust is for ever prevailing.. The very nature of plastic is that dust is drawn to it .. I don’t think any more or any less than any surface ..but we still hear it.
What I’ve been doing for quite a while is using 2 Dust busters .. One I use as normal for the stylus
The other I took out of its plastic container .(. This is to me ,is brilliant commercial chemistry ..I make paint using some of the chemistry in this product .)
Anyway I digress ,,
I clean my soon to be played record with my velvet “ pad” so all the dust and Shyte Is in a line across the record .. I then take the DustBuster and roll it across the record …. It works a treat ..!!!! I know you can just use one , for the sake of a new piece of vinyl it’s money well spent . You just rinse under warm water , let it dry and it’s ready to go again ,,,,, .Knowing the nature of compounds like this , this took a long time to get right …

I use a Dustbuster for the stylus too & sometimes my velvet pad but once I've wet cleaned & vacced my records I don't really get much debris on my records.

My records play very quietly with little or no surface/dust noise and I have never had to wet clean a record again.

When you just use a velvet pad to expose the dust from the groove to the surface .. how do you get it off the surface ??? I see so many people sweep it to the edges .. you’re just sweeping the micro dust back into the grooves .. it needs to be taken off vertically. I par se have no issues from dust noise as I use ultrasonic and vac cleaners , but while I’ve been doing this I’ve hardly had to clean the stylus .. at my age it’s easier to clean the record than a £1000 stylus ..

For the last 20 years or more I have used dry Magic Eraser original ie no soap. I still use it on my Cartridgeman Musicmaster with Sapphire cantilever, Len Gregory gave me dire warnings about wet cleaners. In my setup static is not a problem I have an anti static gun if it ever becomes a problem.

There are copious references to it's use on the internet used a lot in the USA.

The photo of my stylus sitting on a CD & Magic Eraser I have used 2 blocks in 20 years about £0.10p.

Proper wet cleaning seems to substantially reduce static and the ability of LPs to act as dust magnets.

I've got one of those AT 'wet pad' cleaners, but proper wet machine cleaning means normally just a quick brush is enough to clear off any small stuff.
