Well, sort of. In truth the car in question is the Caterham Seven 160 which is to become the new entry level Seven. To achieve this, it has made full use of bits in Mr Suzuki's shed including a blown 660cc inline 3 with gearbox and the rear axle from said jeeplet.
I confess that I really like the idea of this. I've driven two Caterhams before, one with a Kent Crossflow and an R300. The R300 was undoubtedly very fast but the older one was a lot more fun as you could exploit the performance without the sensation of imminent death. With a power to weight ratio of 160bhp/ton this will still be fairly nippy but should avoid the 'missile with a man in it' sensation of the high power variants. The only downer is that fifteen grand with some assembly is still a lot of cash for a toy. Still I hope they do well with it.
