Things you've sold and regretted that would make a fantastic system now with hindsight

I am afraid I have lots that would make a belting system now, including a few home trial and dem items here goes...........

Voyd The Voyd, an early one in black
Helius Cyalene, ref. no. 01
Snell Model E2
Sugden A21p, early 90's one lovely thing
Sondek LP12, introduction to hi fi from a Bush Music Centre, oh yes.
Infinity Intermezzo, on a dem sublime with Accuphase CD
XTC (Orelle) Pow-1, fantastic organic delivery and endless power
Audio Innovations Second Audios, not sure if I really liked these, very space hungry

For the system it would have to be Voyd, Cyalene, A21p used as pre-amp with XTC power amp and my Impulse H6's

Pair of Radford MA25 monos, beautiful condition, Leak 25 pair, Leak 50, Quad Ii pair in near showroom condition. All would look good on a shelf now.

Thanks for asking ! 😊

Actually nothing from me
You've probably never sold anything you've bought.. 🤣

I have a soft spot for the old Castle Harlechs I had. I wish I had put more effort into getting the drivers repaired and then kept them, they would have been great in a second system. I also wish I hadn't had to part with the John Shearne Phase 1 Reference amps I had - as much for the aesthetics as the sound, and they seem to be as rare as rocking horse poop.

McIntosh MA 6450 Amplifier
Linn Klimax Renew streamer
Sonus Faber Signum speakers

Reckon they might go together quite nicely if I still had them

Edit:
No regrets
No tears goodbye

Linn lp12 Ittok, Roksan Xerxes, RB 300, Naim 62, Hi cap ,140, Celestion SL6s, Epos Es 14's.
I'd keep the lot and have the linn with the Celestion SL6s and interchange the Naim 62, Hicap, 140, between the Xerxes and ES14'S.
I would add that I got rid of the 140 for a 250. I would keep the 140 and sell the 250 twice.

A few things have left Rab Towers that would doubtlessly make a good system for someone, but I don't sell much (as proven by the shelves, cupboards, workshop and garage here). But, 'regret'? Nope. Either I wasn't comfortable with the spendiness, or (far more often) I moved on to something better to my ears.

I bet I'm not alone in saying that id have a better system now with what I've rid off compared to what I now have.
Actually I expect lots here have downsized over the years for various reasons (myself included). I find it difficult to remember what stuff sounded like 20 or more years ago.

I had to downsize when I got married many years ago - an end to my bachelor liberty to have fantastical audio systems that blocked out the light. So the Magnepan SMGs went, sigh, the stacked Quads went, more sighs, and finally the Apogee Caliper Sig full length ribbons went, even more sighs.......

The positives - the amplification is much better today than it ever was. So the overall sound has remained very satisfying. And my speakers are small and out of the way. Nice.

A couple of things (well makes/models) jump out for me. All the Kef Reference Model n's I've had, 1, 2, 2.2, 3, 3.2, 4. I'd probably stick with the 2.2 or 3.2 in the long run. And the 2 Opera EL34 valve amps I've owned. They wouldn't work well together mind you as, whatever some people claim, the Kefs like 100wpc+ of high current SS power to sing.

Having said that they wouldn't sound any better than what I have now (well maybe the valve amps...), it would just be change for change's sake.

I used to have a very rare pair of unico DM monos which I would like to try again at some point.

I also had a pair of Gallo reference 3's which now that I have a high end system and large dedicated listening room i'd like to hear a pair in my setup as it is today.

In those days the room, position and accompanying equipment were all less than ideal.

Oh well 🤔
