The main site/App that I use to check the value of vinyl is Discogs.
I did try the link you provided but it was so full of adverts and sh*t that I am not interested in, that I had to close it down before managing to read the 10 tips. Not your fault I know.
My number one tip for vinyl is to make sure that it is scrupulously clean before allowing your stylus to touch it. This is best achieved with a vacuum record cleaning machine or Ultrasonic rcm. Or both like I have 😂

Just seen this on't net and thought it might be either useful or telling some how to suck eggs.

If anybody could add to it then it would be useful to know what else to look out for. Such as sites to check the value etc.
I had trouble with reading the article with that link, and I found what I think is the original version (titled ‘9 tips…’ in the actual article rather than ‘10 tips…’):

I’m not convinced you really need to put a record on a deck to tell if it’s flat - I like to think I can do it by squinting at the LP from the side.

I just have a Discogs wantlist and check the emails daily for anything in NM/NM condition from a collector with good feedback and at a reasonable price.

Can take many months but it's zero effort. Last week I got a 1st pressing of Kraftwerk's Computer World for £25 and The Fall's Hex Enduction Hour for £60. Both play flawlessly.

Interesting choice of pics of Opeth's Michael Akerfeldt and Fredrik Åkesson to illustrate that article!

Buying 2nd hand vinyl is really hit and miss. I've has incredible luck in buying relatively cheap things off eBay that have turned out to be as NM as dammit and poor luck buying records in hopes that look good under light but have irredeemably bad surface noise for some reason.

I've pretty much sworn off used vinyl these days as the prices asked tend to be hopelessly inflated and the quality far too variable. I do think new presses have got better and it's not like there's a shortage of stuff on the want list being repressed etc.

Three new albums arrived yesterday - Rough Trade Essentials press of XTC's English Settlement, Neal Francis' excellent album In Plain Sight and Harald Grosskopf's Synthesist and all three sound very good to my ears.

Look for scuff marks around the spindle hole.
The fewer the better
I've bought records where the sleeve has been border line but the disc was mint by looking for this tell tale sign.
