Hello there- I'm new on here so apologies if this is in the wrong place- I need your advice. I have a Goldring GR1 turntable fitted with a Goldring 1012GX cartridge (I replaced the 'elektra' cartridge it came with as it was horrible on high frequencies with many of my older LPs). It's about time for a stylus change on the 1012GX and they are not cheap (not in my terms anyway).
However, I've been looking at the project carbon fitted with the ortofon 2m red. Should ; a) just buy a new stylus for about £120. b) buy the project carbon for £300 and sell the GR1, or c) look at another cartridge for the GR1, d) something else altogether.
My aim is the improve the sound quality.
It is linked to a NAD C350 through a NAD phono amp and connected to Mourdant Short 904i's. I use a Sony XB930QS CD (irrelevant to this question, I know!)
