USB cables

With the rise of high quality USB DAC's this becomes a popular (and I think yet unanswered) question. How much is 1000 GBP cable better than a 10 GBP one? The theory says that digital is either 0 or 1, no cable can change that. Has anyone tried high end usb cables? Are they worth the money or is it just another way to rip the money off naive audiophile?

There should be a few companies that sell these "audiophile" USB cables that do so with a 30 day money back term or similar - or a demo model.

Easiest thing is to buy and trial one in your system - its your money, your system and your ears...

Never tried one, mind I no longer use streaming audio.

I have the courage not to buy one, because a £1000 USB:td: cable is utter hokum & complete bullshit!! How stupid do you have to be to buy one?

Someone making some unscrupulous Bucks from this, seems less stupid than those falling for it. I wonder how many Hi Rez digital imaging specialists or any other other Hi-Tech companies/specialists in far more demanding applications than home Audio, find any differences in quality of their output due to using a more expensive USB cable. Presuming it is fit for purpose & sensibly specced of c. Presumably we would hear about companies going out of business due to being tight arses & speccing inferior USB cables. :roll:

I am also very brave .... I use cheap shite USB cables on my mac external back up disc .... I then opened up some of the docs .... the words in the docs did look as black as they were before the backup .... in fact I'd say inky black .... and between the words were spaces ... silent spaces I'd say ...

I use a £100 usb cable, and in all honesty (with myself) it doesn't sound to my ears any different to a standard cheap as chips one.
