Guys hopefully someone can give me advice, firing up my trusty old Dell Studio Hybrd for some Spotify duties .....

Goes to logon screen, enter password then it pops up with a message:

> The User Profile Service service failed the logon

> User profile cannot be loaded

OK

Then pops back to original logon screen.

Now stuck in a terminal loop, any ideas brothers any suggestions welcome .... was looking forward to a spot of Goldfraap!

It's very common at the moment. It seems as though it's potentially being caused by either malware or a bad windows update. The easiest way to sort it out is to log in in safe mode (tap f8 repeatedly after the BIOS POST) and create a new profile with administrator privileges and copy all of your user data to the new profile, then delete the old one. Also recommend running a thorough virus scan and clean up of Windows to remove any potential nasties on the system :) . Hope that's of some help.

Jaedon seems limited in user account to actually do this ... will try and revert if stuck!

Not sure why that is :/ . If it's a desktop machine then maybe the keyboard isn't initialising during the BIOS POST, which can happen if it's a USB one. There's not a lot you can do without having access to Windows in some way unfortunately, short of reinstalling from a disc :( . If you have a disc for Windows then you can create a new profile using the command prompt in the repair options but it's a bit of a long, tedious process.

In now again, not sure what was going on. Now need to go and read up on creating another profile/user .... any tips on creating new profile............" and create a new profile with administrator privileges and copy all of your user data to the new profile, then delete the old one."? TIA.

Glad you got it sorted. Assuming you've done all the new profile and data transferral now but if not: all you need to do is to create a new administrator account, then log into it. Open up your new profile folder from the start menu and also open your old profile folder in a separate window (C:/users/*your profile name*). Select all of the folders in there and drag them over to your new profile folder. If it asks, you do want to merge the folders and you want to copy and replace any files that already exist. Thanks for the rep, glad I could be of some assistance :^ :) .
