Valve amp question...matamps.

I know nothing about valve amps, but i own these lovely monos and a modified ming da.. Anyways. I wanted to swap my el34 valves for oher el34 valves on the matamps. I dont know if my amp auto-biases or what...any advice will be great chaps/esses. Atb. Graham

They appear to be based on the Mullard 5-20 circuit. EF86,ECC83 and a pair of El34's. You should get matched pairs or a matched quad.

If i get matched pairs, will i still need to get it rebiased if i change to another make of el34s

If it is using the Mullard 5-20 circuit then no. If it has bias pots on it then yes.

Does anyone know if this amp will take 6CA7's and KT77's?

My winged C's are a matched quad as are my 6CA7's - happy to bob them round for a listen sometime Graham.

I have no replacements, thats whats in my amp - so long as I get something to drop into my amp sure

Mate, just bring them down to have a go in the amps..no need to leave them here, i have brians, 2 pairs of my own and three other pairs en route
