Wanted Valve Pre - SJS/Audio Note/Puresound etc.

On the look out, ideally to work with a Dynavector HX1.2mk2 power amp.

Seen all sorts on eBay, but wondering if anyone here is looking to move something on.

Rack limits me to pretty standard 440mm wide, so ARC and other beefy US units are a no go.

Budget £1-3k.

David Coe's satchmo valve pre is in that range and apparantly very good.
I have a balanced version which is excellent.
A refreshed rose rv23 will be half your budget, Rare, but lovely as well.

It doesn't strictly qualify, but my Ayre K-5xeMP is about to be advertised in the classifieds.
OK, its solid state but the MP signifies it uses the famous Toshiba Jfets which makes it as close to valve sound as it gets without actually using them.

This unit is immaculate and at the top of its game. Balanced circuitry is an option if you are that way inclined.

I have acquired nut's balanced Satchmo (mentioned above) which suits my vinyl source only requirement - I just dont use all the facilities on this Ayre pre.

Pm me for price if you want to take it further, but its nearly inside your budget.

I can deliver further than most.

You mean the Satchmo, Phil?
It did originate from that place, but came to me via nut.
It's a one-off balanced edition in a distinctive case - which I rather like from the pics. Picking it up Xmas week on the Wam Taxi run.
The Ayre also came from a Wammer.

Still looking.
After a couple of failed attempts to match a pre to the Dynavector power amp (HX1.2mk2) I will need to test before purchasing, to avoid wasting peoples time.

Suggestions welcome!
