From time to time I am asked to make custom parts for turntables or other HiFi items. The majority of which are for turntables and are usually armboards which are now out of manufacture, very expensive or to allow the fitting of a tonearm that is not supported for that turntable. Here is a Denon DP-80. I customised the plinth and armboard to allow the fitting of a 12 inch arm. Which in fact it was never designed to do, but it turned out really well. I machined a recess to fit a spirit level to hide to original tonearm fitting and then recut a mounting for this beautiful 12 inch tonearm.
I also built a custom shielded box from Corian for this customers SUT to help to keep it quiet.
Here are some custom armboards for some Technics SL1200 turntables one was a mk2 and the other a mk5. They are both made of 12mm think corian and are custom fitted for a Rega and Acoustic Solid tonearm. These armboards make quite a noticeable difference to the sound quality as corian is a very inert material and is ideal for mounting a tonearm.
Here is a custom armboard to fit a second arm to the Kenwood/Trio L07-D turntable. these are now not in manufacture and the armboards have to be custom made. This one is for a Dynavector DV507 mkii tonearm and I’ve also done them for an SME mkV tonearm too.
These next items are armpods for an Acoustic Signature Challenger Turntable. These have been made for a variety of tonearms for several customers. Rega, Linn, Alphason, Funk Firm and for a Terminator linear tracking tonearm have all been accommodated. Again the corian is a very inert material making it ideal for this purpose. I have made six of these armpods and they have all been very successful.
Here are a range of different armboards custom made for a range of turntables including Linn LP12, Thorens TD124, SME adaptors and some custom cable lifters made to suit a customers decor.
Another project of note was some custom record weights these all feature the Technics logo but I have made them for Garrard, Sony, Acoustic Signature and some with company logo’s for HiFi shops. Any logo, name or wording could be added as a custom item.
