VIVA AUDIO LINEA XP -- PREAMP ( INFO IF POSSIBLE --THANK YOU)

Hello good wammers, if possible i wondered if you guys know the answers to this -- i have on loan second hand the VIVA AUDIO LINEA XP PREAMP (old model V transformer) --

and don't get me wrong it sounds insipid, shrill, lacking bass when i got it it had a fault and the seller sent it for repairs -- and i got it back -- it has all sovtek valves -- and 2A3 in Power supply( also sovtek) -- the seller has said to me if i think it still needs repairing -- but as i said to him -- i don't know -- because i have no point of reference -- ( don't know how it is supposted to sound) -- ??-- also it had 4 6C45 valves in the line stage -- i got 2 6n1 - p valves -- but dont know what goes where front and back -- tried both -- 6c45 at front -- 6n1 - p at back -- and visa versus -- but no still sounds dreadful -- ?? -- i have SUPRATEK PREAMP -- which at this moment is making a mockery of the VIVA -- sound wise

apologies for waffling on but just thought maybe you guys might know why it sounds so bad -- Cheers !!!

It might just be rubbish? - I wouldn't know having never heard one.

For my own piece of mind I would just return it. You will always have concerns about it if you keep it.

I've moved this to 2-channel, where it ought to be.

I've never heard one, as an aside, but I have heard an earlier Viva, and the description suggests something is very wrong. It certainly shouldn't sound worse than a Supratek.

Thanks Rabski -- dint realise it is in the wrong part of forum -- also from what i have read about other peoples expereice with VIVA AUDIO -- if anything there seems to be quite a general consensus -- that the brand ehnce the sound is really good -- thanks for replying -- greatly appreciated

I would put the onus on the seller to sort it out TBH, no point you sorting it, as that will be at your cost and put the price up.

The make has a rep for being unreliable, i.e. breaking down.
