The next Wam Taxi is the weekend of the 22 and 23 October:

The route will be North from my home in Chichester to W. Yorkshire and there I will be receiving 2 chunks of slate for Jules_s brought along by the buyer of my Jantzen speakers which will be on board the Mondeo.
Also awaiting me is the Marantz amp for a friend's nephews donated kindly by Belloire;
My return journey takes in Leeds where I am picking up some Townsend speaker platforms;
I connect with my Tandberg man, probably in Selby to collect my fixed Nakamichi 580 and there it looks like I'm picking up Richard's ANE's for a buyer in Greys Essex. (On the way I will be collecting a pair of JBL 18" drivers in Cambridge.)
And next is either Flash in Melton Mowbray, where I collect some Avondale kit inc. a TD150 destined for Jag, or nac in Mansfield to hear some horns.

I think that's the lot so far..
The Townsend platforms will go to Wiltshire after a few days on a separate trip.

Is a diversion to Alcester (near Stratford on Avon) on the way home a bit too far out of the way, Jack?

The Alcester gig is ON for Jules. Either Friday evening or Sat a.m., - yet to finalise.

The ANe gig is OFF, as the buyer's requirements dictated Richard meet him halfway and do the delivery himself.

I'm making sure I get to hear nak's horns this time, having missed out last time. That will be on the Sunday, after picking up the Townsend podiums and before calling in on Flash for the Devons and Jag's Quad kit.

I'm next as I'm meeting Pyramid Audio in Cambridge to collect my 18" JBL drivers, and then I make my way home across country west avoiding the Smoke and picking up the A34 (eventually).

Hoping to make it back before midnight this time!

Jack NSM

There will need to be some secondary action to deliver to Warminster (podia) and Hythe (Tannoy Devons (possible meet halfway) from my base in Chichester.
Still time for latecomers to apply - you've all seen the route so you know what's possible.

Update:
Sat:
Driving up first thing on 22 nd Sat to Alcester to pick up a box of tricks for Jules_S;
Hoping to arrive sociable hours, say 8 00 - 9 00 to be ahead of the game as I will be then using the M42/M5 to get on to the M6 heading for Manchester.
Then M62 to West Yorkshire.
Done this bit b4 so shouldnt get muddled up. Traffic could be heavy and there's a 50% chance of some driver losing it somewhere.

At my daughters I meet my Jantzen buyer and we transfer, plus I receive 2 chunks of slate for Jules_S.

Sun:

Leave 9 30 - 10 00 in time to get to Roundhay Leeds for the Townsend Podiums then a shgort step to pick up my Nakamichi in Colton, nr M1. (Rendezvous midday.

M1 Mansfield to nak's..audition horns

Melton Mowbray (The Flash) pick up Quad gear and Devons.

A1/A14/A143 Bury St Edmonds - Stanton collect and pay for JBL 2241 18" bass drivers.

Head west, optimum route, to find A34/M3/M27 and home eta 1 00 a.m Monday.

Jack.

Great to see you this afternoon, Jack. You provide an invaluable service for wammers who want to buy or sell "collection only" items. Amazing.

I hope the rest of your journey was trouble-free and safe.

Er, no, Nigel -
At precisely 11 36 p.m., just north of the A272 turnoff on the A3, a car came at me from my side (southbound) of the dual carriageway, heading north, having presumably confused the entrance to Liphook Services (a tad further south) as the exit.
A car heading towards you at 50mph on your side of the road round a bend is not something you encounter everyday. I hate to think what the closing speed was.
Luckily we both swerved the right way and missed each other.

I glanced in the mirror and saw he was indicating a three point turn out of the grass verge he'd buried his (or her) self into - probably in a state of shock!

Apart from that the driving conditions were the worst I can remember with relentless rain and wind and an electrical storm over Cambridge.

Also I didnt make it back before midnight as I hoped I might, buggar.

All connections made and kit collected, plus 2 good conversations, one with nak, and the other with Flash.

Time for some kip..

Jack

Crikey Jack! What a horrendous and frightening experience. That on top of the the general road conditions, you must be absolutely shattered.

Great to see you again and I was delighted that your analogue-attuned ears seemed to enjoy some digital sounds.

Jack, what a shocking situation to find yourself in! I can sympathise, having had the same thing happen to me in the past - albeit a couple of decades ago. Thankfully I wasn't the first driver to encounter the other car going the wrong way and they had already slowed a lot by then, but even so it's pretty unnerving. Glad that a potentially horrendous situation was avoided and everyone was safe.

Just wanted to echo other people and thank you for your rather heroic efforts last weekend, it's really very much appreciated by those of us who use your invaluable and generous service. Fingers crossed that the next one is far less eventful, and in far better conditions too...

Yes, Jules, one of the causes was by 11 30 pm most drivers had run for cover and nobody was setting out so the A3 was deserted. This meant the other driver didnt have traffic going up and down to guide him.
It was both our good fortune that there were no other motorists about as there could have been a pile up from behind me when I emergency braked.
We ended up 60 yds passed each other so there would have been a collision.

There's no time to be frightened and I still had to bring it home, so I just got on with it.

I dont like that way . Ive been to Taut's (Vinylistas) in Woolwich ferry area when I had a ULEZ compliant vehicle, and I got tangled up. Traffic is quite dense.
Admittedly it looked viable on paper, but I know what I like and what I can do. (I dont use Sat Nav, preferring to rely on my skills and initiative, sometimes to my cost!)
