The next Wam Taxi will be July 1/2/3.

I usually travel up on the Friday, but its loose, and could be a Saturday depending on what comes up. Again return could be Sunday or Monday.

Yorkshire is a destination as I have several boxed items to pick up for Jag whose man is near York. Selby has been mentioned in a pm as another location in Y. for a pick up of a pair of PMC speakers. Kaphanc (sp?) involved with this one..

Coming back, space will be at a premium - so only small priceless items can come back south (ultimately to Chichester - the departure point).

Might well be picking up a DAC in the Melton Mowbray area for Volante - drop off Midhurst/Petworth.
This is firm now. Perhaps collection by buyer at mine (Chi).

Jack.

Further I shall be collecting a pair of speaker stands from nut in Eton Wick on the way up to drop off in Wakefield.
And (aforementioned) up to 5 boxed items for Jag in Rustington brought back from his Tandberg man in Yorkshire.

Jack.

I noticed an appeal for help with a pair of floorstanders from Seaford in 2 Channel. Seaford is along the coast from me and so comes into focus as a potential candidate for the July Wam Taxi - awaiting further information.

The Seaford gig is not happening, so there is space available in the Estate going up (could be my Jantzen TQWTs - look out for the details in the Classifieds in the near future.)

The northward leg is taking shape nicely.
Looks a doddle at this stage - Leave about 12 30 Fri 1/7 and head along the M27 and join up with the A38 via a short stint on the M3; first port of call is Jessica's haunt in Hungerford where we will be trying out this Audioadvanced 6L6 Italian iron against her WAD KT88 amp that was at Baggawire's Bake Off. This means a left along the M4 west of Reading;
Having had a listen and a chat, I head east along the M4 to Eton Wick to pick up nut's speaker stands;
From there its retrace steps for a junction or two on the M4 and turn off for the High Wycombe road (A329M)on to the M40 and off to Sutton Coalfield to stay with a friend.
The on to Yorkshire to see my darling daughter, having dropped the stands off in Wakefield, arriving hers before midday.

The car will be virtually empty going up, and that's easy peasy, but is there nothing happening in the classifieds? Where's my last minute desperate phone call..? (Still time.. :D

What time will you be in Selby Jack?
Around midday Richard..I cant be more accurate than that. I'll be looking at the route and timing today and making sure i have mobile numbers for liasing on the day. Pm me with further queries and info. Thanks.

Jack.

So, the return journey could look like this:
Pudsey (Birdbrain) for 10 00 a.m. leave 10 45;
Selby (pick up speakers and meet Chris, the Tandburg man at same location, a business address) for 12 15 ish;
Melton Mowbray, (DAC business) arrive 3 00pm;
L.Buzzard, drop off speakers @ 5 00 p.m.
Brackley for 6 00 pm. (inspect valve amp,)
Back in Chi for 9 pm ish.
(If Ive missed something let me know!

However, I dont like the eta for Leighton Buzzard - it puts me slap in the middle of traffic, so Ive pm'd David (BB) to ask if i can do him Sunday, thus buying 2 hours on the Monday.
Watch out for an update..!

:)

David (BB) has agreed to Sunday so all Monday times are brought forward 2 hours.
A curved ball from Parry, my host on Friday night, has told me a family member has covid, so this means an earlier start on Friday and staying at the daughter's Friday. I know nut is in all day, just have to liaise with the Wakefield connection as I will be earlier than intended.

Bah!, its the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, bang in the middle of my outward journey. So, have had to abbreviate the itinerary, (I miss out seeing Jess), and make a detour round the A43.🤕

Thanks Bob - yes, made it home last night safely after a long day..!
However, that long day was somewhat self-inflicted as I missed my rendezvous with my Tandberg man and had to catch him up on his way to Derby for an appointment (with the kit for Jag in his car), and then various interesting conversations that probably took longer than envisaged, didnt help with the clock ticking..

Everybody got their stuff, the car didnt miss a beat (and she flew the last leg from Disarmament's place in Blackley I can tell you) and was home for 11 pm, after a 9 00 a.m., start.

I got some nice booty (jazz record collection - thanks that man) and all parties are happy I think.

No thanks to whoever closed the A5 south of Bedford on Monday afternoon and evening (chaos) and there were hold ups at Guildford on Friday, crashes on the M62 on Friday, forcing a reroute, and all sorts of other traffic issues over both journeys.

The RAC are getting to know me as, having called them out a few weeks ago for a seized wheel bearing on the Mondeo, I had recourse to use them again on Friday going up for a thrumming emanating from the rear. It was a mishapen worn tyre upsetting a trailing arm bush this time. (Mea culpa for not having that seen to b4.)

Spent some quality time with the daughter which is 'what its all about' as they say on tv.

All in all a successful trip and all the vicissitudes associated with such an undertaking without sat. nav. havent put me off doing this again.
Everybody wins!

A big thank you to Jack for collecting a DAC I purchased from a Wammer in Melton Mowbray which I collected from Chichester yesterday.
