Had to check twice nobody had picked this before.

Do be aware there's some explicit words when you're playing this one!

First time I heard this, on cassette in the car, the biggest shock was the language.

Even after the "year zero" attitude of Punk the year before, there'd not been anything quite like this.

Like many favourite albums, I wasnt crazy about it at 1st, but after a few listens, to the band, that BASS, those lyrics, its lived with me ever since.

I had a love affair with Nina, in the back of my Cortina.

A seasoned up hyena, could not have been more obscener.

She took me to the cleaners, and other misdemeanors.

But I got right up between her rum and her Ribena.

Genius.

Went to see them in 1978 and was again shocked... by just how crippled Dury was.

A roadie helped him stagger to the centre of the stage, where he gripped the mike stand for support.

The band (what a f#ckin band) kicked off and Dury had you by the balls for the rest of the night.

What a front man.

Oosing charisma.

The album just puts a smile on my face every time.

Great band, a great wordsmith and a unique piece of vinyl (originals omitted Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll)

Play the track anyway chaps, its a stormer and would send the mosh pit insane.

Good call, fantastic album

One of those albums I don't need to actually play though

Just thinking about it brings it all back and makes it unnecessary

I've a lot stored away I don't actually play anymore for the same reason

I suppose thats why I' m allways looking out for something new

My yoof, so I suppose I'm a bit biased. I was in the scene at the time and used to do casual jobs for the Stranglers, Kilburn and the North (natch), etc., carrying amps and stuff into assorted pubs in Finchley and Barnet in return for an ale or two.

This is neither punk nor pub rock. This is poetry set to music, and fucking brilliantly so.

Probably my favourite album of all time. Incredibly brilliant lyrics, fantastic playing, great production. And some of the best rock poetry since Viv Stanshall.

Utter masterpiece.

Get's a score of 100/10 from me.

Phew ! I woz a bit wurried there :nerves:
You scare me.

I'm right there with you on Camel, Yes, early Floyd and all the rest. However, if you don't think this album is brilliant, then I have a problem.

I'll get the vinyl out, and give it a long overdue airing. I loved it back in the day

Only a true WAC-er posts on a Thursday. :D

Certainly a true classic. Great songs. Have a track or two on Spotify playlists but still a treat to listen to again in full.

Oh my. What an album. What an album and a couple of good stories to tell about that band, like many others here I expect.

And what a criminal shame - my deck finally stopped all together, after many little flakies. So, sorry not to be able to come and play.

If I can dig it out, I'll post my version of the front cover - taken on the last day of trading of Rounder Records in Brighton- the longest running store here.
