Hi all,

I have a water rower classic in walnut (with S4 monitor) to move on. It's this one in the more expensive (and more beautiful) walnut finish:
https://www.waterrower.co.uk/waterrower-classic-rowing-machine

Purchased at the start of lockdown, used only a little - the reality was my flat was too small and hot (ie no airflow) for this to be comfortable to use for long periods. After a couple of months of use it has mostly sat like an ornament, with only very occasional use. I'd say it's been used for max 100 sessions, so it looks and feels pretty much as new.

A lot of the rowing community seem to get nauseous at anything other than a Concept2 machine, but I have to say this is a much nicer thing to have at home (as seen in House of Cards), and doesn't change the workout all that much, just can't compare splits as easily with others.

Don't really know what to ask for it, but I paid £1199 direct from WaterRower at the time (can pass on confirmation email), and now I'm back in the gym it might as well go. I'll say I'm looking for half of what i paid, so £600, which I hope is a bit of a bargain given how relatively unused it is. Only stipulation for that price is that it will need to be collected from London SE4 - and you will definitely need to check measurements - a van or a big estate I think is a must.

If any interest I'll pop up photos - not sure how many rowing folk there are here!

Any questions let me know.

Cheers!

Yes, I use one of these regularly. Great way to develop core strength with very low impact stresses.

I think the Concept 2 is considered the benchmark rower because the calibration is more standardised, so your results can be compared against others - even at competitive level. As you say though, the water rower is nicer to use and an incredible piece of industrial design, iconic even. Can be easily stood up against the wall after a session too. I love mine.

For anyone interested I got my waterrower in the back of a Ford Focus with a little help from an Allen key. Excellent machines. GLWS

I had one of these in the black walnut. Selling it was my biggest regret. I've got a knock off somewhere between a concept 2 and a water rower, to scratch the itch but it's no substitute. The main thing about the water rower, particularly if you live in a small place is that it looks like a piece of furniture and it stands up for storage, and doesn't annoy the neighbours as it's water resistance as opposed to air. I'd have bought this in a New York minute had it been in Manchester. Buy it. You won't regret it. Bear in mind you'll never see 'discounted' genuine water rowers as dealer margins on these are so tight. This is a bargain.
