Do you always have your image size set to the maximum mega pixel ?

I set mine to 5mp from 16mp for an email pic a month ago and forgot to change it back.

Depends for me. Now that huge storage cards are available cheaply, usually do JPEG's at best q and highest file size, but if card space is limited, and I need to take a lot of shots, then I'll take the file size down to medium, and can't say I ever noticed the difference.

+1, which is really what I was getting at, why do we always set to Max.

It's been shown that the Fuji X10 shows better pictures 6MP rather than 12MP in most instances when shooting RAW+JPEG. Many X10 users are opting for the medium size setting as a result. Using L size would only benefit if you wanted to print poster size I imagine and needed the pixels. If you shoot in M size then the EXR sensor can use it's own onboard, and very powerful, hardware DR expansion apparently.
