Just to balance it up -

Jaguar - Most models still have that unique feel and now very well engineered. X-Type is much better than people reckon. I predict the XK to be pretty amazing.

Alfa - Okay, still quality issues but Ive seen many cars pass 100k without skipping a beat. Terrible aftersales and residuals remain a problem. Stunning cars that hit the button, I really hope they survive.

Ford - Dont laugh, they have a very strong range these days that are much better than their image.

Honda - Shame about their old man image coz engineering doesnt get much better.

Aston - Droooooooool, not much more to say. I want.

Ferrari - Always stunned by just how capable these things are these days, flash git image is prob though.

Of course there are individual models in other ranges.

Ferrari – Simply stunning cars, although I think they have lost their way with their current styling, definitely not the most beautiful cars they have ever produced.

Jaguar – Some really nice looking cars, which I think, have a certain presence about them, more so than BMW’s and Mercedes.

Alfa Romeo- by far the best looking range of cars within their market sector with some superb engines.

Aston Martin – Back where they belong, again some beautiful cars that sound out of this world.

Lamborghini – Steeling a bit of thunder from Ferrari at the moment, with a great range although maybe a bit too similar in looks IMHO.

Range Rover – Pure Class IMHO, their market sector has been flooded with loads of “wanna-bees†in recent time but they are still head and shoulder above the rest, especially with the recent change in styling.

I have two angles, firstly i like cars that dont break... the Honda's of this world.. but i love driving Italian cars as long as i can leave them where they break down and drive something else home...

I like cars with soul...

I liked the mark 1 Escorts. I also liked Vauxhall Chevettes. That was the last Vauxhall I liked.

It's a shame really to see how the British auto industry has gone down in such a short period of time! Rover being the most recent example of failure.

German manufacturers managed to stay ahead of the new competitors, mostly from South-East Asia(Japan, then Korea).

I am not sure that French or Italian manufacturers were much better though. It's just that their homeland markets were more captive.

Jaguar: not a single duff car between WWII and the "new" S-Type.
smile.png

Citroen: never afraid to pioneer new technology. Traction Avant, 2CV, DS, CX, GS, AX all outstanding.

Alfa Romeo: who cares if they (used to) break down. Just LOOK at them.
500000033.gif.92511e2005a900cfb9bb836a01712b3a.gif

Ford: a few duffers in the range, but Focus and Mondeo both class leaders and superb to drive.

Aston Martin, Bristol, Bentley (not that shite Continental GT): well, a Gentleman has to drive something, old boy.

Porsche: except the Cayenne, obviously.

Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, ISO, De Tomaso: see Alfa Romeo.

Honda: ace engineering, too good for granny! (Styling and interiors a bit suspect

)

TVR: safety? You calling me a poof?
