Lightroom 5 should be your next purchase Nick.
I'll take a look at that Steve. I've never even used Photoshop :minikev:

So many challenges ahead .... :)

Run and gun initially then read some articles on composition to get the basics. Then run and gun again :^ Don't forget to post random images :)

Nick, not sure if you'll find some of this guy's videos useful, they were a good learning tool for me.

Not sure how far your level of knowledge goes, but I'd leave all the Photoshop stuff until later. Concentrate on the basics of exposure and composition first.

IMO Mike Browne has an easy relaxed presentation that makes sense and isn't boring. Hope you enjoy them.

You might be able to pick up a copy of Lightroom 4 much cheaper than LR5 and that would be perfectly good enough and might save you some pennnies.

Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson is an essential read IMO. I'll try to remember to bring my copy to Scalford if you like?

I will just chuck in the thought that the camera, on full auto, will do 90% of what you need for you for the first few months. If I really wanted to become a good creative photographer, and not a photojournalist, I'd want to leave it on auto and concentrate on the elements of the picture, like composition, colour, light, texture etc. Just as a thought. Once you're taking pics which are interesting to you, then you can easily learn how to tweak exposure, focus etc at a later date.

I've not had a chance to get out and take any pics yet, the weather doesn't help. I watched this video last night and found it extremely useful. Obviously most if not all of you will be fully versed in this stuff but for a beginner its a really useful watch.
