I have an Intel i5 NUC running windows 10, now (3yrs old) I have updated the SSD to 2 TB and upped the ram to its max, 32gb. I use the Audirvana 3.5 app for playing my FLAC files, while doing computer things like browsing FB at the same time. My next step up would have to be a new PC, what would I require as a min, (in comparison to what I have now)... budget, around £1000+/-£100

Have you thought about switching to a Mac? They have a devoted following. I was very glad I switched. I prefer the security of a Mac and use Mac programmes like Garageband. Just a thought if you're investing.

Sounds like what you have is already pretty well featured for your use cases.

if you want to go the PC route, Intel G12 alder lake i5 is sweet spot perf/value. Unless you are serious gamer or heavy duty graphic user. Music is relatively undemanding on modern multi core CPUs.

I do not do gaming at all, so will prob stick to what I have now, as it works and sounds good to me

Just my thought but a MAC is a closed system and often the software you want to use is not available so unless there is a very strong reason to use MAC better to stick with what you know . Before any MAC users get upset this is only my view and not everyones .

As per bencat, I can't see any problem you might have with your current setup. I had a 2 core laptop with 4Gb of ram in a home music media setup running the dire Windows Vista with no issues 15 years ago. Your current NUC should easily do what you're after. Maybe it won't be great on graphics but music should be fine. I refuse to pay for basic facilities so I avoided Apple 30 years ago, ongoing.

Thanks for all your replies. I reckon just sticking with what I have (as its all working well) is the way to go until something goes wrong with it. It gets very very light use now, the most hard work it does is the odd Audacity simple editing task

Hi, do you use a decent dedicated internal soundcard and/or an external DAC?
If not, then your PC Motherbooard audio is nowhere near up to the job, even with Audirvana.
