Ares II should be £700ish used in UK; if they do come up it's almost always because the owner wants more Ares and is pursuing a Pontus.

Pontus is even harder to find used as most people dispensing with theirs will be seeking to move to Terminator and that's a pricey (if excellent) proposition.

Definitely a fan of R2R! I had the Ares II and enjoyed it very much. I then switched from Denafrips to Metrum and chose the Pavane L3. It took me a long time to find the Pavane; I suspect the Pontus will require similar patience unless you want to buy new...

Anyone think this guy trying to pull fast one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184974409112?hash=item2b11557d98:g:kaUAAOSw6fthAYXB ? Picture seems to show a pontus version 1. All pictures I've seen of latest version has name stated on right hand face of dac 'Pontus II'. He has taken picture of invoice, stating Pontus II, but I'm thinking this might be why he's trying to punt only six months after buying, he's received wrong version.

Love it. Can listen to it all day long with very little fatigue, I’ve needed to take a break with other dacs.

I think I’m definitely in the r2r camp.

I don’t have much of a dac history to compare it to but others have offered more open, spacious soundstage or tighter punchier bass but the Pontus is the one I’m happiest with overall. 
 

I would take a punt on the auction one, don’t think it’s a scam.
