new excalibur arm for the new rock of course..what else?! Note detailing like tiny weeny rubber rings on finger lift to prevent annoying slipage, and new dial in tracking weight system...I'm in love again...god I'm fickle:)

it looks like a rega bearing housing and TF dial, but the arm tube and headshell, not to mention the weights loook like another design, it might not even be the same lenght as a rega, bet it sounds nothing like it either.

I was trying to come up with an way of making it so you could adjust azimuth without affecting VTF, the twin weights didn't work either

there is no point in me just making a Hadcock, I want an arm with the ease of setup of an SME with the open fleet of foot nature of a unipivot.

what about a fixed pivoting counter weight, like a pendulum, but able to be fixed at anny angle from the centreline, as it's fixed along arm (in front or behind the pivot) it would not afffect VTF?

Very good idea, would need to ba adjustable by a screw wheel though to meet that design criteria, also I want the weight to be a record level, so it would have to be quite short but heavy.

Thanks Paul

I'd bang it:)

For the cynics, heres a rega 1000 and the excalibur...the similarities are that the bearing runs at an angle acros the arm tube and...errr....well I suppose theyre the same as in An sme V is te same as the arm on my garrard auto changer cos its a tube with bearings.

to my eyes its basically a rb300 thats had the arm tube sawn off and a new tube stuck on top;)

the advantage of haveing the vertical bearing inline with the stylis is lost by the extra effective mass on the arm tube

i suspect this arm could only ever be used with the troff on a rock turntable

1 advantage may be that the arm tube azimith may be adjustable if you can manage to see the headshell on the record:)

best wishes

j7
