JBL L110’s - suitably impressed!

In Kendal for a couple of days, I popped in to see Mike @stylesound today to pick up the Nils Frahm CD I’d lent him. Mike was keen for me to hear it playing through his recently refurbed JBL L110’s. We last heard this on my Kendal rig including Posselts and I thought I knew what to expect - really enjoyable sound, bit of a vintage sound signature in the bass perhaps - but was hugely surprised and impressed by what I heard. Well balanced across the frequency spectrum, they felt fast and focused and the word that kept bouncing around my brain was “sharp”: a real kick in the bass yet it didn’t dominate, wasn’t at the expense of the equally crisp mids and highs. These would easily hold their own in some very modern speaker company.
The L110’s are seriously good then. Well this pair are anyway. Mike might want to expand on what the refurb consisted of.

I love the big JBLs, I was brought up on my Dads JBL L50s, happy memories.
