Specs:

Frequency response - 2Hz to 20000Hz

Dynamic Range - More than 100dB @ 1kHz

S/N - More than 110dB

Harmonic Distortion Ratio - Less than 0.0015%

Channel Seperation - More then 110dB @1kHz

Wow/flutter - Below measureable limits

mmm - so I finally have a 20-bit K2 cd player after hearing so much about how good they are! It certainly looks the part - fantastic build and finish - much like the matching amplifier, and disgraces almost anything currently in production.

Sound:

we shall see - need a bit more time to get used to it - first impression is that its very very smooth indeed. Not going to say 'analogue' because it doesn't sound anything like vinyl - but the volume can be pushed high without the sound hardening up.

couldn't really comment at the minute Papa - I think the Wizard had the foot tapping more at first - but I'd just turned on the amp after a day of being off - and everything is changing atm.

will follow it up in a few days. Got a nice JVC interconnect to play with too.

A lot of those older high-end Japanese CDPshad superb build quality but were, as you mentionedBiccy, actuallytoo smooth for their own good soundwise.

its hard to describe it Michael, it doesn't lose anything by being smooth - I think it might be something to do with the K2 filter, its sounding very impressive after an evening of warming up.

Biscuit there seems to be a slight problem above – you seem to be on the verge of having a very visually appealing hifi system. The JVC duo reaffirm my love of how good japanese hifi does the “chavpagne†finish.

Glad to hear it's been a good purchase for you.

So how long will you be keeping this one for?

Or did you acquire it to sell on?

:?

really not decided yet - growing quite attached to this amp and cdp - looks nice, sounds incredible, and cost me less than a grand between them.

Less than a grand between them.... sounds like a great deal mate.

If they both sound that good why not keep them?

Sounds like you'd have to spend a fair bit more to get an improvement.

Nice purchase Russell

Ah, 2.5k for the CDP

Just out of benign curiosty, how much do the amps go for over here?

As they said in Lock Stock, 2SB's - "It's a deal, it's a steal, it's the sale of the fucking century."

Of course, he also said he would keep it himself, but I'm ignoring that part :dude:
