Sale ON HOLD
Unit has developed a minor fault whist on audition so has been returned to BB Audio (Allen & Oli) for investigation and repair.

Selling to reduce my investment in vinyl replay, as its now become a secondary source.

I bought this from Oli (his own personal one) in November 2020, and its one of the last 2 box builds he did before going to the current single box build.

As many of you know these a superb phonostages that punch way above their price point. When I first bought it it was fitted with the standard Matsushita & Sovtek valves and yet to my ears it walked all over my £8.4k Tron Seven Ultimate.

Photo 1 below shows it in my system with its (to me) fugly large white logo, I have since covered the front panel with a matching black brushed Aluminium effect wrap to hid it, but the wrap, is easy to remove if you want the logo on show.

The BB3 responds well to some valve rolling (position V2 has a jumper to swap between 6N2P & ECC83

Price with standard valves (2x Matsushita 7DJ8/PC88, 1x Sovtek 6N2P)

£750 OVNO Delivered

With 2x Telefunken PCC88s, & 1x Mullard ECC83
£825 OVNO

I also have a spare pair of unused NOS, TFK PCC88s
£85 Delivered SOLD

How much gear do you have squirreled away John!
Just a very very early 401 serial number 1205 so April 63 which I plan to sell.
Other than that, just a surplus RB250, a recently acquired Puresound A30 a few P77s and an EEI MCP555 which I'll be selling soon.

Wow that is an early 401 i didn't know they were made as far back as 63.

For selling information, the 3 digit number on the chassis underside will tell you exactly when It was built . Mine says 603 which translates to the third week of 1966. Yours would have 3 followed by 2 numbers from 01 to 52.
Your low serial number makes it a real collectors piece John.

They are lovely decks and with a good arm and stable powersupply will still see off many modern turntables.

Anyway back to the original thread.....

519 would be 19th week of 65 as you say. Mines in black paint but that probably was just whatever colour they had to hand in Swindon that week!
