Amp for AE2

What's a decent amp recommendation for AE2''s upto maybe £2000. Single ended or balanced as dac has both or may purchase another balanced dac .

Either a big PP valve amp around 80 watts a channel, such as a Rogue, a pair of Icon Audio 845s, or alternatively, and more suitable as more likely to have balanced connectivity, a 100w solid state amp.
I have good experience with the Ayre brand and they are well known for their balanced circuitry.

Flak Monkey used some Rod Elliot DIY ss kit amps at Scalford and Bandit Pilot had great results with some musical Fidelity muscle, also at Scalford.

But the world's your oyster with £2K at your disposal..

Cant see anyone getting better for that sort of money. I have the EVO400 and they are just stunningly good.

Well hope someone buys it soon ... strangely just got some class d amps to sound rather good so the prima luna itch will have to wait !!!

Funnily enough they have the same icepower modules as the ones lurch mentioned . Very cost effective with the right pre amp and dac . The sense of presence and immediacy is very good and they cost peanuts !!

MF kw500 or tri-vista 300. A1000.
But I've also had them singing on a 211se.
They're nowhere near as needy as the 1s

This, the PMA-2000AE was an excellent match for the AE2s that I had. Just make sure it fits in your rack

Not so long ago when I bought my 2nd pair of ae2, they were demoed on a Cyrus 2. Shock horror. They sounded brilliant on it. Actually on the hunt for one myself since hearing it all together and a damn sight less than 2k!

Restek Challenger on eBay from the Emporium in London, £500. I understand the AE,s thrive on power, which this beast will supply with ease.
