Does any one know how much they cost?

Also what do they sound like? Are they very neutral, monitor type sound you expect from ATC, or do these have a bit of character.

The trouble with these Proacs (thumpy bass aside) is that they are a bit too flat for me. I like a little mid range warmth.

Thanks Jonathan,

Just found that myself.. I spend so much time here, I often forget that I am connected to the internet :)

Jerry sold his Kharma's at a give away price imho. They have midrange to die for. I'd rather have seamless integration than worrying about bass mids and trebles . But i would say that wouldn't i.:lmao:

Well integration is a given. Without that the rest is pointless.

These Proacs are giving me a headache now. The bass is fucking annoying. They sound really really nice, until any strong bass comes in.

So, what do we know about these ATC's then?

I only heard a pair once and they were standmounts James . Can't remember the model or the ancillaries but they certainly sounded ok . I think they can be a little bit ruthless in some sytems andIIRC they like alot oF horses under the bonnet running through them. Their own active models seem highly revered.

Will some quality standmounts with grilles on stands give you less (but adequate) bass and cut down on room interaction issues? They can still be child resistant. S/h/ex-demo pair of 1007s?

I've heard Frank's a couple of times now. They're a bargain and sound v. nice. Take ages to run-in according to Frank - so if you try them bear this in mind.

Another option of course - gotta say i'm concerned myself about my standmounts when we have kids.

I suppose they are naturally inquisitive. James needs floorstanders made in bullet-proof steel; thwack!

Stand mounts are tempting from a sound per pound POV but they are not what I need.

If I wanted stand mounts i wouldn't be having this discussion, i would be very quietly and stealthily looking for some S/H Arcs.

Have you tried Spendors? The award-winning S5e should be had s/h for about £500.

TIU:

I hoped to hear some Spendors at Phase 3 yesterday, but it looks like they no longer stock them.
