Digging out old gear?

Any of you have stuff stored and stowed away you forget about then wire up and love how they sound?

I bought a desk yesterday after getting fed up of using the laptop on my bed, hooked up a cyrus 2 and some wharfedale diamond 3's. and really very much enjoy the sound, cyrus hasn't been on and working for about 6 months, and diamonds were collecting dust...

I think next route here is an external usb sound driver thing to improve the laptop sound!

wish i had lots of old kit syep, but I reckon it will often be one piece in, one piece out for more pricey items. just my original cdp and amp are being kept in case current ones need repair.

i did recently post something saying how much I still enjoyed the sound of my old technics amp. haven't listened to it for about 6 months. absence makes the heart grow fonder perhaps?

I have re-bought a system forour Loungethat I used to ownin the late 80s.

Linn Intek, Linn Kabers, Arcam Delta 170 and Black Box.

A nice contrast to the main rig in the listening room.

recently dug a pair of old beyer 440 phones from the attic and they sound brill. although the moths have had one earpiece:Not Sure:

Rockman, I have a pair of old Beyers and both grey earpads have disintegrated. It would be good to get them restored as I'm sure they're much better than my cheap Sennhie, Senhar, Senwotsits.

Things have a habit of coming back and certain forum members have been known to benefit from my stash of kit from the oldendays when in need of a loan between kit.

I have a Harman Kardon HK6500 amp in the loft. Bought it via German eBay to replace one which I had sold abouta decade ago. Lovely amp and it will be brought out of the loft again when the time comes...

I also have a line-level pre-amp which isn't being used. Can't even remember the make (but it's a bit like a NAD but black... erm...).

Oh yes, also have a Maplin dj mixer which has been used about twice (but it ain't hifi so I'll shut up now).

Things like the cyrus and the wharfedales aren't even worth selling, more expensive stuff comes and goes but the cheap stuff may as well stay!

I wrapped another pre amp in black sacks and put in packets of silica gel today

to get moved to the lock up next week
