Can someone explain in simple words how do you link someone into a thread?

Not sure what you mean by 'link' mate. You can get the forum to notify another member. Just put '@' and their forum name, for example @rabski @MVJ (just type @ and then start typing a name and you'll get members listed), anyone mentioned that way gets a notification.
