You aren't the only one. No. Not by a long stretch I suspect.

I use a ruler. It drives me mad when something isn't exactly in the centre of a rack shelf, or the gaps between things aren't equal. I can spot it a mile off.

I'm not pernickety enough to use a ruler, but I will try to centralise kit on a shelf. However, I do draw a scale plan of the room and play with scale paper cutouts of the items (speakers, shelf racks etc) that I intend to put in it.

Ruler for me, single components centrallised to the millimetre.

My 'rack' is a completely modified Ikea Pax double wardrobe. All horizontal and vertical divisions customised for the components.

Just as well I don't own a camera* otherwise you could see it  :D .

* What?!.......true, no camera, no smartphone.

I’m not quite that obsessive, but wonky valves drive me potty.

My late mother in-law was a bit OCD. When I visited I went around her bungalow placing her candles and pictures off centre, it drove her nuts. No, it was not that that finished her off!

I tend to do the rack by eye never measured anything on there  :nup:

Now the speakers are a whole different thing I will measure with my Metre rule (kept in the garage) to get them in the absolute identical position in respect of the room walls. So I feed my obsession in another way.

I do hate wonky valves too

I like to have relationships with women who have OCD. That way my house gets cleaned.

When an OCD friend borrowed my car, he came back in a cold sweat after trying to work out my Radio presets...

Radio 4 is on preset 1, because it's my favourite channel
Radio 4 is also on preset 2, in case I hit preset 2 by mistake when I want Radio 4
Radio 5 is on preset 3, because it's my next favourite
LBC is on preset 4, because that's the 3rd one I remembered
Radio 3 is on preset 5
There is 'something' on preset 6 but I'm not sure what

Hey - those are exactly the ones I use! I use them all the time. Clunky but do the job perfectly.

Mine are metric. Wasn't Avoirdupois a Gallic emperor at the time of the Roman invasion?

Noooooo!

On my cars that have presets, 1, 2, 3 and 4 HAVE to be Radios 1, 2, 3 and 4 even though I rarely listen to Radio 4 and never listen to Radio 3.

Fortunately my current car doesn't have presets - it just arranges them in some random Land Rover software-defined order on the touchscreen. I tried to get CDO about this, then realised there wad nothing I could do about it anyway so just go with it.

And as to the OP - I line my equipment up on the rack by eye. The right eye obviously, as the left hasn't got a clue.
