I fall in the "it looks utterly horrid camp FWIW".

ermm, no, not for me thanks. I like the idea as a way to creating a bit, heavy mass but it looks just wrong to me.if the platter was solid black it would look schweeeeett.

Well, it looks better than an LP12!

I think either a much darker wood/veneer/stain is in order. Ebony or mahogany perhaps. Would increase the cost a tad!

Don't think it works with a silver tonearm either. There are arms out there that use wood, but I can't think what they're called. Maybe an acrylic arm like the Nima would look better.
