One of my favourite modern producers is Al "Breadwinner" Redfern from Manchester. Clearly influenced by the greats e.g. Lee Perry, King Tubby etc. Here he is doing his thing.

His collaborations with Nat Birchall ("Sounds Almighty") and Vin Gordon ("African Shores") are well worth seeking out if you like this type of old school reggae - the best type IMO.

I love the old 'uns, Sideshow, Police and Thieves, etc. They still have a magical essence to them.

One of the best Soul Jazz compilations gets a repress for November. Contains many of the original Studio One rhythms versioned during the dancehall boom of the late 70s and early 80s.

There are so many fantastic Reggae artists, old and new, but Hugh Mundell stands as one of my favourites. He was only 16 years old when he released his seminal debut album Africa Must Be Free. I often wonder about the incredible music the world was deprived of when he was tragically murdered at the tender age of 21.

A new good quality vinyl repress on the Only Roots label of classic melodica-led tunes from Augustus Pablo originally from 1979.
