Classic and increasingly collectible headphones, these were Sennheiser's TOTL in the early 90s. They have more treble and a wider soundstage than the later HD580/600 series. They have quite a fan base in the headphone community with many preferring them to the HD800s which they say have too much detail and detract from communicating the music. There's a long thread on Head Fi about them.
They are in very good condition for their age and importantly all original with the exception of the foam inner which crumbles and has been replaced with a grey fabric lining I bought from a guy in Germany for longevity. (This can be removed for the driver to go "naked" for extra detail.)
They scale up well with a cable upgrade. A HD600 cable can be used if the plug is just trimmed slightly on the wider part to fit in the socket of these earlier models.
Being 300 ohm they also synergise very well with valve headphone amps.
I'm asking £120 posted which is a good price for a pair in this condition.
