Sonic Frontiers Line 1 valve preamplifier SE and Balanced plus Loop

Superb pre for sale, selling due to a change of plans.

Great headphone stage too.

In stock form these are very highly regarded. This unit was upgraded by Parts Connexion in Canada which is owned by the ex-founder of Sonic Frontiers so the work is done by someone who knows their stuff and the circuits of these units.

The pre has been max'd out and sounds incredible - very very revealing. Leans towards the cooler sound of what valves can offer.

Comes with the puk metal round remote and works like a dream.

4 x single ended inputs
2 x balanced inputs
2 sets of single ended and 2 sets of balance outputs
Tape loop

Upgrades:

Tubes:
4 x NOS matched Tesla gold pin E88CC
2 x NOS matched 6H23N-EB Reflektor ultra low noise military spec, ruggerised

Power Supply:
Silver plated cryo IEC connector
12 Diode upgrades
Resistors now Kiwane (5)
All electrolytic caps upgraded to various Nichicon's
Hi-Fi Tuning Silver Star fuse

Audio board:
Resistors upgraded to Takman and TKD (30 of them)
Coupling capacitors now Mundorf Supreme Silver/Oil
6 new ceramic and gold plated tube sockets
Silver internal signal wiring

Others:
Volume chip upgrade
SoundCoat chassis dampening
A lot of labour
Small EAR sorbothane feet

No original box sadly. With the upgrades to an already superb pre this is very had to beat.

Volume gains in 0.5dB steps making getting the perfect volume spot easy.

Demo welcome.

Mmmm, this should be really nice, I once owned a SF dac from this era (which was wasted in my system of the time), and it was a lovely thing, sound and build quality was top notch. Best of luck with sale.

Yeah, their build quality is immense. Photo below of the remote proves it. There is gouges around the perimeter of the remote sadly - only thing negative with the sale. Prior owner must have worked really hard to get into the casework.
